What we Do...

COACHING

Executive coaching is an individualized approach to professional development that focuses on results and outcomes. We use a four-phase coaching process designed to:

  • Develop individual managerial talent
  • Achieve identified business results  

Appropriate targets for coaching are those high potential individuals with the need to leverage current strengths and build key competencies to achieve strategic objectives. These individuals have high potential for impacting the company’s performance and effecting business results and they have a commitment to achieving personal growth and development

 

The coaching process typically covers a three to six-month time frame. HLS Coaches work closely with senior managers and HR Departments to ensure that the objectives of the individual and the sponsoring company are achieved. The coaching process includes the following phases:

 

Phase 1—Information Gathering and Assessment

The process involves the use of personality tests such as the California Personality

Inventory (CPI) or Hogan Personality Assessments, an in-depth background interview, 360° feedback data, on-the-job observation and an in-depth meeting with the supervising manager.

 

Phase 2— Development Plan (See sample)

Once the performance gaps are identified, we use or client’s leadership competency model to customize a road map for addressing development needs. Two-three flat spots are identified with measurable outcomes.  The plan is discussed and agreed upon by the leader, their supervising manager and other relevant persons from whom support is required.

 

Phase 3—Coaching and Development

The leader participates in the HLS Personal Breakthrough Program™  to remove barriers that block optimal performance. The executive then engages in development activities designed to enhance self-awareness, build competencies, and achieve results. Regular face-to-face meetings are scheduled with on-going access to the coach for advice, support, monitoring and feedback.  This process may also include team training for direct reports.

 

Phase 4— Evaluation and Follow-up

The process is completed when objectives have been achieved.  Progress toward achievement of objectives is measured. A long-range plan identifying future areas of focus is developed and discussed.
